Do Blind Men Or Dead Men Need Blindfolds?

Do Blind Men Or Dead Men Need Blindfolds?
By: Jack Jackson, Minister Where You Are

Would you feel the need to place a blindfold over the eyes of a blind man to keep him from seeing? Certainly not! Would you feel the need to place a blindfold over the eyes of a dead man to keep him from seeing? Again, the answer is no way! It doesn't matter because neither can see even without it. It would however make total sense to use a blindfold to keep a man who can see, from seeing something you don't want him to see. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 says, "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

The Bible describes Satan as the god of this world. In Ephesians 6:12 it is clear that the battle is against him (Satan) and his forces, not against men. Satan uses false doctrines to confused, and hinder effectiveness and zeal for God. Once a person makes a profession of faith in Christ Jesus, Satan doesn't want them to tell the lost about Jesus; lest the light of the glorious gospel tear down that stronghold (blindfold) Satan put on them. He doesn't want the Christian community to awaken to the fact that God's truths from scriptures are powerful enough to break through his strongholds so the lost can see and obey the gospel. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation for every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Romans 1:16.

Note that the gospel can be believed, and is actually the power of God to salvation. Do you preach the gospel in such a way that shows you actually believe it is the power of God? Do you really believe it can tear down the blindfolds that Satan has put on people?

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled." 2 Corinthians. 10:4-6 Please consider this comes once your obedience is fulfilled. God doesn't like to use dirty vessels. As Christians we are to zealous in Him when we seek to save that which was lost, with confidence not in us, but the power of the gospel. Recognize that the gospel is not a peashooter, but is like having a mega-weapon from God that makes your enemy the devil cringe. His lies stand no chance against a Christian armed and believing the truth, and who is willing to boldly preach the Word of God with the specific intent to tear down strongholds. Is that how you witness? Do you feel empowered by the awesome power of the gospel to un-blind those blinded by Satan?

Have you ever heard a preacher say "Man is dead in his trespasses and sin, he is like a dead man who can't see, can't respond, like person in the morgue." If that were true, why would Satan blind dead men and blind men? The fact is dead in trespasses in sins means only condemned already (John 3:18-21). The fact is men and women who are lost are blinded by lies of Satan, not by a God who will only allow some to see. Don't be passive in your witness, be proactive and attack the blinding lies with "Truth", confidence in the power of the gospel message. Take opportunities to tell people about Jesus. Don't wait until you are sure they like you, otherwise who are you trusting, your personality to win them to Christ, or the power of the gospel? Do you need help presenting the gospel? Maybe we can help:
